Marvel Australia has revealed a brand new trailer for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man, which condenses the four minute super preview of the film, and also adds some new footage.

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises has been grabbing headlines for the past week, leaving some people to wonder if The Amazing Spider-Man is on the verge of getting completely shoved out of the spotlight by its superhero movie counterpart.

Right now, though, it’s The Avengers that is clearing a path for the superhero movies of 2012. The film, only in its fourth week of domestic distribution, has become the fourth highest grossing film in American box office history with a pull of $523 million, and while the movie was bumped out of the number one spot this past weekend by Men in Black 3, it still managed to make an incredible $46.8 million in the last three days.

All these will only add up to spell great news for the rest of the comic book movies that will be coming out this summer, as people now want to see superheros more than ever, and above all that means very good news for The Amazing Spider-Man.

And now, Sony has struck back (so to speak) with the release of an Australian trailer for Amazing Spider-Man online. The majority of the promo’s footage is recycled from the third U.S. trailer and extended preview, but there’s still a healthy amount of new material here – and much of its focuses on the film’s down-to-earth sense of humor.

Containing new glimpses from the high school-set moments between Garfield’s Peter Parker and Stone’s Gwen Stacy, the trailer highglights Marc Webb’s ability to develop character through lighter moments. They are nice breaks from the somewhat dark tale, and it will be interesting to see how much time is given to these character-based moments in the actual film.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, The Amazing Spider-Man follows the “untold story” of Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) “unlocking” a certain mystery.

Like most teenagers his age, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. In his journey to put the pieces of his past together he uncovers a secret that his father held… a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man.

This is the first in a series of movies that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story.

The Amazing Spider-Man swings into theaters (2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D) around the U.S. on July 3rd, 2012.
