The Avengers – Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Headcount Clip

“Cause if we can’t protect the Earth you can be damn well sure we’ll avenge it!“, Tony Stark warned Loki.

Tony Stark confronts Loki and reminds him of what he has to fear, by doing a headcount of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The scene appears to be played out at Stark’s loft in Manhattan, where the self-confessed “genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist” calmly warns Loki that he’s pissed off every single Avenger he’s met.

With each clip from The Avengers that comes out, this movie just looks more and more awesome.

We got our first full clip last week, but this new one is thrilling because: 1) Robert Downey Jr. is, as always, awesome, and 2) it’s cool to hear “Avengers” said as the team name as well as hearing “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.”

If anyone had told me when I was a kid I’d someday see a film like this, I wouldn’t have believed them.  Even now it still doesn’t seem quite real, but I can’t wait to sit down and see it for myself in two weeks time.

Loki: What have I to fear?

Tony Stark: The Avengers. It’s what we call ourselves, sort of like a team. Earth’s mightiest heroes of fame.

Loki: Yes, I’ve met them.

Tony Stark: Yeah. Takes us a little while to get any traction, I’ll give you that one but let’s do a headcount here. Your brother, the demigod. A super soldier, a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend. A man with breathtaking anger-management issues. A couple of master assassins. And you, big fella, you’ve managed to piss off every single one of them.

Loki: That was the plan.

Tony Stark: Not a great plan. When they come – and they will – they’ll come for you.

Loki: I have an army.

Tony Stark: We have a hulk!

Loki: Oh I thought the beast had wandered off?

Tony Stark: You’re missing the point. There’s no throne. There is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it’s too much for us but it’s all on you. Cause if we can’t protect the Earth you can be damn well sure we’ll avenge it.

Look for The Avengers to hit theaters (2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D) around the U.S. on May 4th, 2012.
