James Bond Daniel Craig escorts Her Majesty The Queen to the London 2012 Olympic Games, which should gives a whole new meaning to Skyfall: Awesome!
Daniel Craig — in his James Bond persona — made a special appearance in a short film for the Olympics in London today. Escorting none other than the Queen herself, the bit is surprisingly fun and strange, including a Winston Churchill statue that comes to life and Elizabeth jumping.
It was a bit hard to believe director Danny Boyle had actually managed to get security clearance that would allow him to make a short film for the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games not only starring the Queen of England, but also Daniel Craig as James Bond.
The whole thing was started when Craig was invited to Buckingham Palace and met Queen Elizabeth, and was asked to shoot an intro for the games. Titled The Arrival, the short features Bond going to the palace and receiving a mission to open the games, followed by a sequence where he takes a helicopter to Olympic stadium and parachutes in (The Queen made the jump!).

That moment where the helicopter comes in and he parachutes out and the entire arena turned into the Union Jack should give you chills and reminded you of some of the classic Bond opening scenes. Though this was all expected and makes all kinds of sense. In the world of pop culture, few icons are as associated with England as James Bond, so it’s only right that they include him in the Olympics.
I love that they put Bond in the Olympics like he is a real MI6 agent, with Her Majesty and all. Simply Brilliant!
