‘The Prototype‘ Trailer - A brilliant scientist creates a powerful humanoid robot with incredible fighting skills and quickly becomes the target of a government manhunt.
The production company behind the action film Act of Valor has released a promotional trailer for an independent sci-fi feature titled The Prototype.
The basic story revolves around a man who goes trough some sort of tragedy then becomes a cyborg prototype for the military, and guess what – everyone is after him.
The trailer for the Bandito Brothers feature looks extremely promising, with a strong central premise and some good visual techniques.
The robot looks a tad like Hellboy’s “Abe Sapien” to me, by the way.
The Bandito Brothers surprised a lot of people with Act of Valor earlier this year, a small-budget feature starring active-duty members of the military which provided a fresh perspective on a tired genre. They’ve got a few other projects in the works, but none of them sound as promising as their newest endeavor. With a budget of under $40 million and thematic similarities to Neill Blomkamp’s fantastic District 9, you don’t want to miss this sci-fi action.
So, what is The Prototype? From the looks of it, it’s a badass, balls-to-the-wall sci-fi action movie due out in 2013. The film was apparently produced, shot under the radar, and beyond the reach of the Hollywood studios, similar to how Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh (re: The Bandito Brothers) did their Navy SEALs movie Act of Valor. That film wasn’t shown until it was completed and the creative team put it out to the various studios to bid on.
Apparently the project wasn’t supposed to be auctioned off until later next month, but after the teaser leaked, a studio could swoop in and scoop this one up any time now. Somebody certainly should, because the visual effects are excellent and, more importantly, it looks like there’s a hint of a solid storyline involved, too, meaning it won’t be just a series of chases with no emotional attachment to the characters.
In fact, the only actor I recognize in the 3-minute plus teaser trailer is Neal McDonough, Buck Compton himself from “Band of Brothers”. Looks like he’s either playing the heavy here, or the cop assigned to track down “the prototype”. Either way, if you can get Buck Compton in your movie, you’re doing something right.

Look for a studio to announce that they’ve acquired the film pretty soon. I don’t think this one’s going to last very long…

Neal McDonough will appear in anything, it doesn’t say much about the film he’s in it…that being said, this looks like a pretty generic sci-fi movie that could be aired on Scyfy or whatever they call that channel now.
Not impressed.

To me it looks a lot like Crysis.(pc, ps3, xbox360 game) Could this be the beginning of when it all started minus the aliens? If it is this would be a great movie leading into a trilogy.

It sure reminds you a hell lot of Kroenen from Hellboy in a Crysis nanosuit, doesn’t it?
