‘The Great Gatsby‘ Trailer - Nick Carraway, a Midwesterner now living on Long Island, finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. He is drawn into Gatsby’s circle, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy.

Australian director Baz Luhrmann has already delivered tragic romance in the form of Moulin Rougeand his contemporary set adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet, but now the filmmaker is telling another classic story in the form of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, in 3D no less. With an amazing main cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Joel Edgerton, the adaptation already sounded fantastic, but now the first trailer affirms our excitement with a contemporary feel (a Jay-Z and Kanye West song helps) next to the period setting and story that just works.

Featuring two very odd song choices, the teaser trailer shows off a visually extravagant feast with typical Luhrmann touches, focusing on the lavish lifestyles of those who could afford it at the time. Whether the film can complement its production design with strong performances and smart direction is yet to be seen, but the teaser trailer is a jumbled and unfocused piece.
