When your movie is about male strippers, there’s only so much that can be shown to entice everyone to come see Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey and more shake their asses and show off their muscles. That’s why the Steven Soderbergh film Magic Mike has finally released this red band trailer which has plenty of dudes in thongs, bare-asses and (much to my chagrin) a hint of penis.

With the help of screenwriter Reid Carolin and director Steven Soderbergh, Channing Tatum has used his real-life story and turned it into the narrative feature Magic Mike. The film stars Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Gabriel Iglesias, Olivia Munn, Riley Keough, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Cody Horn, Adam Rodriguez, Kevin Nash and Betsy Brandt, and follows Mike (Tatum) as he takes a young dancer called The Kid (Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money.
I don’t know what I was expecting, but there you have it. Though I’m not exactly the core demographic, the film looks like it could be fun with a decent story. Hopefully it’s more than a male revue in theaters on June 29th.
